This Refund Policy forms part of the Events BD Terms of Service. It explains when refunds are available, how they are calculated, and how quickly they are paid. Our approach is designed to be fair, predictable, and transparent for both attendees and organizers.
1. Overview
Events BD is a marketplace that connects event organizers with attendees. When you purchase a ticket, you enter into a direct agreement with the organizer; Events BD facilitates the transaction and settlement. For this reason, refund eligibility depends primarily on (a) the default rule set out below, and (b) any more generous policy an organizer has published on a specific event page.
All amounts in this policy are in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT). No interest or additional charge accrues on refundable amounts during the processing period.
2. Default Rule: Tickets Are Final Sale
Unless an organizer has expressly published a more generous refund policy on the event page, all tickets sold on Events BD are final sale and non-refundable. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you will not be entitled to a refund for an attendee-initiated change of mind, inability to attend, scheduling conflicts, weather, travel difficulties, or any similar circumstance.
This default applies to all ticket categories (paid and free tickets that carry a platform fee). Refunds are only available in the specific situations set out in Sections 3 to 7 below.
3. Organizer Cancellation
If an organizer cancels an event (whether in advance or at short notice), every holder of a confirmed ticket for that event is entitled to a full refund of the ticket face value.
- The refund is processed to the original payment method where possible.
- Both the payment gateway fee (2.5%) and the platform fee (৳10 per ticket) are returned to the attendee, so the attendee is made whole for the full amount they paid.
- Where a ticket has already been scanned in (attendee entered the venue) before the organizer cancelled, that specific ticket is not refundable; only unused tickets qualify.
Where the organizer has insufficient balance on the Platform to cover the refund, Events BD will process the refund from the held funds related to that event and will recover the shortfall (if any) from the organizer in the usual course.
4. Organizer-Offered Refund Policies
Organizers are free to offer a more generous refund policy on their own events (for example: "full refund if cancelled at least 7 days before the event"). Where an organizer publishes such a policy on the event page, it applies to that event in place of the default rule in Section 2, and the organizer is responsible for honouring it.
Events BD will assist in processing refunds made under an organizer's published policy, but the obligation to refund in these cases sits with the organizer. Any organizer-offered refund policy must be clearly visible on the event page before purchase.
5. Technical & Payment Errors
Where a payment has been successfully charged but no valid ticket was issued to you (for example, due to a system error, interrupted payment callback, or duplicate transaction), you are entitled to a full refund of the amount paid.
- Our reconciliation system automatically checks pending transactions against the payment gateway and resolves them where possible.
- If the system determines that a payment was received but no ticket was delivered, a refund is initiated automatically.
- If you believe a technical error has resulted in a charge without a ticket, please contact us at [email protected] with the transaction reference and we will resolve it promptly.
6. Event Postponement
Where an organizer postpones an event (for example, changing the date, time, or venue), the treatment of your ticket is determined by the organizer's published approach for that event. Typically, one of the following applies:
- Your ticket remains valid for the new date and/or venue without further action.
- You may request a refund within a specified window after the postponement is announced.
- The organizer offers a voucher or alternative experience of equivalent value.
If the organizer has not stated a postponement approach, we will work with the organizer and affected attendees in good faith to reach a fair outcome.
7. Force Majeure
"Force majeure" means an event beyond reasonable control, including natural disaster, public health emergency, government order, civil unrest, power or communications failure, or similar circumstances that make it unsafe or impossible to hold the event.
Where force majeure prevents an event from going ahead, the organizer may choose between:
- Rescheduling the event to a new date, with existing tickets remaining valid; or
- Refunding the ticket face value to all affected ticket holders.
Where a rescheduled date does not work for a ticket holder, a full refund of the face value will be provided upon request, made within a reasonable time after the new date is announced. Events BD reserves the right to coordinate a platform-wide response if force majeure affects a large number of events simultaneously.
8. Missed Events & No-Shows
If you do not attend an event for which you purchased a ticket (whether due to illness, travel, personal circumstance, or any other reason within your control), the ticket is not eligible for refund unless the organizer has explicitly allowed for this in a published policy for that event.
9. Treatment of Platform and Gateway Fees
Where a refund is payable under this policy, fees are treated as follows:
- Organizer cancellation & technical errors: Both the payment gateway fee (2.5%) and the platform fee (৳10) are returned to the attendee — the attendee receives the full amount they originally paid.
- Organizer-offered voluntary refund: The organizer may, at their discretion, refund only the ticket face value and retain the platform/gateway fees, or refund the full amount. The event page will indicate which approach applies.
- Force majeure: The ticket face value is refunded. The organizer and Events BD may mutually bear non-recoverable transaction costs.
Events BD does not impose any penalty, surcharge, or interest-like fee on refund transactions. We may deduct, at most, the actual non-recoverable cost of processing where clearly disclosed in advance.
10. How to Request a Refund
Refunds in the situations above are often triggered automatically. Where you need to raise a request manually, please contact us at [email protected] with:
- Your name and registered mobile number on Events BD
- The Ticket ID (shown on your ticket, format EVT_*-T##) or Transaction ID
- The event title and date
- A brief explanation of the reason for your refund request
We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and to decide on eligibility within 7 business days.
11. Processing Timeline
Once a refund is approved:
- Approved refunds are processed within up to 7 business days of approval.
- Refunds are typically returned to the original payment method. Where that is not possible, we may use an alternative method such as bKash, Nagad, or direct bank transfer.
- Your bank, mobile-financial-service provider, or card issuer may take additional time to post the credit to your account; this is outside Events BD's control.
You will receive an email or in-platform notification when your refund is initiated.
12. Chargebacks & Abuse
We ask that you raise any refund concern with us first, rather than filing a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. Chargebacks filed without first attempting resolution through our support channels may, at Events BD's discretion, result in:
- Suspension or termination of your Events BD account;
- Cancellation of any other unused tickets linked to the account;
- Recovery of amounts owed by any lawful means available in Bangladesh.
Fraudulent refund requests, manufactured disputes, or repeated abuse of the refund process are prohibited and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
13. Disputes
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a refund decision, please reply to the support ticket with additional information or write to [email protected]. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve the matter amicably. Where amicable resolution is not achieved within a reasonable period, the matter may be referred to the competent courts located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction, in accordance with Section 13 of our Terms of Service.
14. Changes to This Policy
Events BD may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email or an in-platform notification at least 14 days before they take effect. The policy in force at the time you purchased a ticket will continue to apply to that ticket unless the new policy is more favourable to you.
